In 1979 Peter Lole founded his own company, specialising in the provision of marine insurance and commercial insurance for all sectors of UK and international business.

Peter utilised his wealth of experience from 26 years in the industry, including time spent at a firm of Lloyd's brokers and as a cargo underwriter, to build an exceptional team and Peter Lole & Co are now regarded as one of the major marine and commercial insurance brokers in the UK.

The growth of the business has seen the emergence of a specialist division: handling personal and household insurance cover for high net worth individuals and owners of high value properties; requiring specific policies to provide exceptional cover and peace of mind.

Our services include advising businesses on risk assessment, risk management and constructing policies to provide bespoke terms and conditions, in order to contain costs and reduce premiums for our clients. We also have an enviable reputation for claims handling.

Peter Lole - Chairman
Peter's background as a cargo underwriter and specialist broker in Freight Liabilities for carriers and the Airfreight industry, formed the basis for founding his own brokerage at Gerrards Cross in 1979.

Peter Lole and Co quickly became widely known throughout the marine insurance market and logistics industry, with Peter's influence and drive enabling the company to grow and adapt to the changing needs of the business and its clients.

Peter has been the cornerstone of the company and after 30 years at the helm, he recently retired from the full-time role of Managing Director. He retains an avid interest in the company and continues to use his vast experience to provide countenance as Chairman.

Simon Lole - Managing Director
Simon's involvement with Peter Lole and Co began in 1995, when he used his placement year of University to research and install a new I.T. system. Following his graduation, he returned to finalise his work. His strong foundation in mathematics and desire to help his father resulted in him centralising a number of the company's financial areas: from client credit control and insurer reconciliations to dealing with the banks and other financial institutions.

Since taking on the mantle of Managing Director, Simon has worked very closely with the team his father established over many years, to ensure clients continue to benefit from their professional expertise.

Rodd Bankier - Non-Executive Director
Rodd's career in the insurance industry began with eleven years experience at a leading marine syndicate at Lloyd's, working on hull and cargo underwriting boxes and handling marine and non-marine claims. The successful completion of his ACII examinations culminated in periods with two major Lloyd's brokers and a consultancy, before he joined Peter Lole & Co in 1993.

Rodd has extensive experience of marine and aviation markets, as well as specialist knowledge on dealing with claims. Following his recent retirement, after nearly 20 years service, he remains as Non-Executive Director to provide valued support to the team.

Tracey Meaney - Commercial Director
Tracey joined Peter Lole and Co in 2003 after spending 25 years gaining valuable experience with several respected Insurance Brokers. She has been instrumental in helping to expand our Commercial Department and applies her in-depth knowledge of Commercial Combined, Business Interruption and Office schemes and policies to keep the company at the forefront, in providing the most up-to-date products to benefit clients. A consummate professional, who firmly believes in building long term relationships with clients.

Associate Directors:

Hazel Downes - Marine
Hazel is a shining success story for the company. She joined Peter Lole & Co from school in our early years and progressed through the company, becoming Marine Manager and subsequently, Associate Director. Her experience and dedication enabled her to take overall responsibility for Marine and Freight Liability broking and claims. Clients and staff recognise her professional and efficient running of the Marine Department and she has developed an excellent rapport with insurers at Lloyd's of London and in the Company Market. As a graduate of Peter Lole & Co, Hazel is also heavily involved in our training programme.

Len Benson - Commercial Fleet & Motor
Len began his career with the Heron Group in 1979 and spent his initial years learning about general insurance, before joining York Insurance Group in 1983 (subsequently acquired by Keywest Insurance). He rose quickly, becoming Branch manager of Kenton, North West London before joining Peter Lole & Co in 1990. Len specialises in looking after all aspects of motor insurance, particularly Motor Fleet Insurance, with particular emphasis on the haulage industry.

Anthony Merchant - Commercial
Anthony joined Peter Lole & Co in February 2010 having previously worked for a couple of Lloyd's broking houses over a 10 year period. Prior to that he worked for a non-marine syndicate as a property underwriter. During Anthony's 20+ years insurance experience, he has gained valuable knowledge for both Commercial and Personal Lines insurances and does his utmost to ensure customer satisfaction.
